Hey 4chan, following your tips yesterday I decided to post a new video on how my schedule works! Some anonymous person told me the patreon got my post removed so I won't include it here BUT if you want please subscribe to me there, it would be a great help !

I wouldn't change it for the world, but it is a little intimidating to recognize just how much effort its going to take to see meaningful progress and improvement with my art. ON TOP OF trying to just enjoy the process itself and not tunnel vision too hard getting improvement results. Haha its a lot, but let's keep chasing our dreams together :)

You overthink things. Please, rewatch the video where you drew 3 spheres and ask yourself if it's worth to stretch it into a 10 minute documentary instead of drawing 100 spheres and getting actual mileage.
Formulating theories about what went wrong is the way to learn, but you can't do it with a sample size of 1 failed attempt.

Trust me, I've "been drawing" for 15 years and I'm shit at the very foundation of drawing, and it all stems from my highly analytical, pathetically pain-intolerant brain. Everything I've ever learned to a decent level has been in a field where making logical leaps is an advantage, but with drawing and other performative skills (music, sports, hand-crafting) you can't look for logical shortcuts.

2h a day won't get you that far, but if you can honor it, you could be decent in 5 years, good in 10.
We've seen a million anons ready to change their lives with a Rocky Balboa epic montage of fixing their shit and going through a rigorous art regime, but the ones who actually showed results can be counted on a single hand.

Don't necessarily stop with your YouTube channel, but remember it's supposed to be an ART diary, not a diary about having an art diary. A thousand guys telling you "haha fuck those 4chans, you got this gurl!" CANNOT beat a thousand spheres or a thousand failed sketches where you make little discoveries and actually get somewhere. Even if you're not playing the victim, the public is painting you as one.

You are not, you are guilty, just like most of us, and anyone trying to divert attention from the goal of getting gud WILL be called a nigger tranny cope seethe sperg beg vaxxie redditor. And that's what makes this place "good", it's the only corner on the Internet where people will be as unsatisfied by your efforts as yourself.

Hopefully this walltext shows how similar we really are, I'll take this as a sign to draw IMMEDIATELY, I've been procrastinating all day.

This mentality stems from thinking brute force with no self-reflection, not taking a step back to review your work/method, no experimentation, no "aha!" moment when you found something that worked versus "oh shit.." when you found something that worked.

That's why in sketchbooks, you draw something, and then you review whatever the fuck you did. You try changing bits here and there and see whether it led to it being better or worse. And THEN you NOTE your findings down so your future self would already know what worked and not.

I've been drawing for 7 years with meh improvement. But thanks to that I also learned a truckload of shit that doesnt work and make sure I dont repeat the shit that doesnt work and try something else.

If someone repeat the same wrong shit over and over and over again and then wonders why they aren't improving. Take a damn step back, review what the fuck you did. Find references and directly compare (trace over those references if you have to to break it down). See where the eyes are positioned. What it'll look like if you draw them more slanted? What it'll look if its positioned 3-eye height from the chin instead of 4-eye height? What will it looks like if you enlarge the head by 15% or reduce it by 15% (CSP's transform tool you could directly input the scale you want).

Kek, welcome to the club.
I know all of these things, the worst part of being like this is the self-awareness. I can't be the haphazard, happy little kid discovering new marvels at every turn, I already know (or believe to know) how brutal the path ahead is and that drastically reduces my output.

Also, I recently tried to "standardize" a character of mine by measuring spheres and setting proportions in stone, but I was thwarted by the simple fact that I CAN'T draw the same thing twice. Even following the same recipe, the results kept varying wildly, and that blows my mind.

Of course I can do it digitally if I want, but I want the motor skills to be able to keep up with my brain skills, I can Ctrl+Z my way into a single finished piece, but not into a productive, efficient career.
