>>5885350> i'd ask myself what is the real motivation to traceSaves like an hour. And if you’re trying to do something with paint like right now, particularly if it’s just a throwaway tiddy drawing to practice a painting technique you’re thinking of, tracing takes like a minute and you can hop right into it.
> do i fear getting the proportions and shapes wrong if i don't? then i suck it up and eyeball itAgain it’s still a time thing. Hand drawing and eyeballing, even if you’re fantastic at it, typically still involves a lot of oopsing and redoing and realizing proportions are subtly off and everything else. It’s just burning a lot of time and focus on something that consumers don’t give a fuck about.
Like I typically have about 3 hours I can focus on something before I’m burned out on looking at for a while. Spending like 1/4-1/3 of the time I have to work on it, on the underdrawing of a painting I have no intention of ever monetizing and am only working on for painting practice, is kind of just stupid. And for what? To impress some bozos on ic that are only interested in calling out negatives anyway?
Like I’ve gotten zero positive reinforcement from anyone here for my hand drawn paintings, and I’ve had hand drawn paintings accused of tracing as a way to shitpost. So what’s the point? If I do the underdrawing well enough I get insulted more than if I did a shitty trace.
> do i want to skip to the rendering so i can practice it more? then i just trace a basic block in and start painting without an underdrawingPyw been thinking of getting into just blocking shit but I’ve gotten comfortable enough with loomis eyeballing and using scratch hatching to estimate proportional distance that I just keep doing that.
>>5885381Tldr. Pyw. Stop taking out the fact that you’re lazy trash on strangers.
