The average western animator that works on american cartoons isn't as skilled but they come up with way more creative and fun designs.
When someone with asian genes is told to draw a western character, you usually get gold, because both the japanese and the western artist are complimenting each other by focusing on their individual strengths.
That's always why the reverse is so fucking horrible. Westerners trying to do japanese media is never good.
