In what bizzarro world something like be considered more than a few hours of work. Or even remotely useful to anyone as creative direction? If I were managing an art team doing a phase of production and someone brought me that after X hours and X days, I would reach out them and make sure they were ok, ask about what they intended in the design.
This is like get help tier.
EA and Ubisoft both rep hacked together directionless quickie art like this for a lot of well-funded titles. BF 2042 has similarly "hasty" art all over the place. It makes me wonder. Do they employ artists for years at a time to sit around and do nothing 80% of the time? Do they just dumpster everything up to the last 6 months of development? Games take YEARS to make, and this makes no sense to me.
Is this just an elaborate form of investment fraud done by the management to keep the costs/hours up and thus the invested budgets up? Meanwhile their staff of hundreds lose it and stagnate working on far cry primal or something?
I kid you not Ubisoft released a mini doc and articles talking about how FC:Primal was supposed to be a "fun cool down project" but I don't believe that shit for a second.
