Why do i never stay consistent ?

I don't know how to stop the loop.
Everytime I want to get into drawing I end up spending more time looking for ressources than drawing.
I spend all day downloading resources and browsing 4chan to learn what methods to learn art are the best.
Everytime I try to draw i lack patience and quit 2 min after beginning.
I start to think that i like more downloading resources than drawing itself

Build up patience gradually. Start with drawing for 15 minutes straight a day, then move to 30 minutes, then to an hour, etc. Get physical copies of art fundie books, and unplug your computer/flush your phone down the shitter while you're drawing.

I guess i will be interested only if i can draw like them but it's impossible

Here is what you want to do.

> step1: get 100 pages of copy paper
> step2: make an A4, include 6 random heads from loomis
> step3: print them
> step4: turn off your computer
> step5: buy a pen (not a pencil or ballpoint),
> step6: Draw them every fucking day, and attempt to draw them from memory too
> step7: Finish them
> step8: Go back to digital
> step9: Have so much confidence in 3d space, plus, you kinda know how to draw heads from imagination

This, and also you might be intelligent but lack discipline. Discipline, because our comfortable lives make us prone to so many distractions that are far more enticing than drawing. A lot of gurus espouse the idea that if you don't draw, then you actually don't want to be an artist, and that you deserve to fail, but they are unempathetic to the idea that our comfortable lives combined with horrid upbringings and poisoned sense of masculinity make us tremendously prone to chaotic emotional states which put down the idea of drawing and substituting work for quicker pleasures.

It's something we all definitely struggle with here. It sucks, because there is no clear solution. If you get rid of all quick pleasures, you most likely won't have the emotional support from others to not become depressed, and if you use only motivation to draw, but you are in a comfortable setting, you will be distracted. What's the solution? Not a single individual has ever come up with one, not that there is a single solution for everyone, but there isn't even a clear path toward developing one at all. Some might say make a schedule, but that falls short too. It's a frustrating question.

The best thing to draw from this is going traditional. This will surely work for some people, as it has with me, because you don't have to set up your tablet and programs. Even if it saves as much as 5 minutes, it makes it easier to draw, because you just pick up the pencil and paper. For example, I want to practice figure drawing right now, but I don't have nice reference figures immediately in front of me. So I looked around, got distracted by this post, and now I'm typing. Sucks man. Anyone wanna share nice figure resources so I can get on with it?

The great thing about drawing with pen only is **punishment**, when you draw a line, and you fuck it up, it is like the equivalent of whipping the shit of your brain because of the mistake "you dumb fuck what are you doing?", punishment is actually a great and efficient (but maybe dangerous?) way to practice, but if you only practice on digital-only (this is especially true for beginners) making a mistake is the equivalent of saying to your brain "it is ok, it is just a tiny mistake, you can always undo it, you can use lasso tool too, maybe set up another layer so you can reduce the mistakes" followed by kissing your brain on the forehead and giving it a pat just in case.

For that reason digital is good for individuals who need to go easy on themselves in the beginning. However, when I tried traditional I realized I could learn to draw much faster because my lines had to be efficient. In other words, someone who only does digital might never learn efficiency, and the result will be that one who practices traditional gestures, for example, will be able to complete a gesture in 1 minute, while an undisciplined digital artist might take 4 minutes to complete the same gesture. Plus, the digital artist will be harder to satisfy because he knows he can keep undoing things to perfection, while the traditional artist knows he took the most efficient path possible. So, even if working digitally is best for a beginner, he should still try traditional at some point and realize what he's missing that can also help him digitally.

This train of thought (all the longer posts I'm guessing are by you) perfectly sums up my experience as an artist. And thankfully I am onenof thos people that traditional has helped immensely. I dont even want to go back to digital. Hell, I'm even getting into painting. So for anyone reading, pleade try traditional. You learn to draw so much faster and its so much more fun.

You've basically summed it up perfectly. Traditional is for people who want to learn how to draw. Digital is for trannies and basket cases who will curl up in a ball and cut themselves when they make a wobbly line and spend more time talking about being an artist than making art.
