what’s important here is not the filters or colors, but the proportions and shapes. you can put all the filters or whatever on a drawing but if the composition sucks and the proportions are off it will look like shit. the shape of her hair, her body and the ruffles in her lingerie are what stand out to me. her expression as well. ape those things well and the rest is easy.

ime the easiest thing to do is simply start studying settei sheets from 80's/90's anime and doing poses & rotations with those characters while trying to stay on model. you could even make a style sheet where you break down the proportions more systematically. sites like setteidreams often have color guides as well. you can fuck around a lot with grain and aberation after that but having a convincing drawing is the most important thing

I don't really get why retro artist always add the noise and dirty up the image. All you really need is the art style and attention to detail to facial and body proportions. Anime from that era was meant to look bright and colorful like it is now. It only didn't because they couldn't due to the technology at the time.

Flat colors, chromatic aberration, and darken the entire image by like 10%. I dunno why you kids want things to look like shit nowadays though. Between this and CRT filters for old games, I'm hella confused. I actually grew up with crt and dim lit anime because I'm an oldfag, but I feel no nostalgia for things looking worse.
