Finch uses some nip techniques. I'd say he's not bad, tho his videos are not the best for me personally.
Also, I think comics are something like a middle ground between realistic drawings and more simplified stuff like anime.

I automatically trust Finch’s opinion more than the opinion of all /ic/ posters put together so yeah I’d say it’s good advice to follow.
He’s mentioned the Bridgman thing in other videos of his too so he clearly thinks it’s important.

He’s miles better at art than every other “art teacher” so naturally his instructional videos are popular.
If you were limited to only learning from the world’s very best artists then no one would ever learn anything.
I think his art is pretty great btw and I normally dislike /co/ stuff.

As a child growing up in France I always found these American comics very unsettling, somewhat depressing even. Now as a 26 year old those feelings haven't abated. The high contrast, the autistic anatomical detail, the monotonous urban settings of late 20th century America, they all make the hellscapes of Bosch and Beksinski look quaint in comparison
