Hmmm as for your question, that is a hard one, see in my case I study anatomy using Loomis (Heads) and Bridgman for anatomy and shape, they're both kinda complex in its forms so I actually do 2 studies, one study is trying to be accurate to the real structure and my other study is me trying to figure out how can I stylize and simplify it to my taste. IT doesn't come naturally yet, I need to be very conscious of my decisions, specially at the first stage (rough /sketch)

Tldr: double studies 1) for accuracy of knowledge
2) for your own enjoyment and taste / adaption
