Like schizophrenia is just one mental illness of many.
If I were to say, I guess very messy, sort of abstract, things could be schizophrenic like? But that's so vague and I've only seen a small handful of schizo artists in my life.
But I'm sure there's copious amounts of mental illness poured into all of your favorite creations. Mental illness comes in so many ways, shapes, and forms that I couldn't really pin down just schizophrenia.
There is no answer here. Perhaps some trends, but how many of those trends are simply concepts other mentally ill people took from another mentally ill people? Sometimes people draw things without thinking or they took the concepts because it's cool and they haven't actually thought about why they liked or resonated with that concept.
And even then, it can easily go back to what you said too. Quick, unrefined, sketches because people that are deeply mentally ill surely can't linger onto one thought or idea for very long.
I wanted to link a video I'd seen long ago, but I can't find it... It was a video where an artist drew while they took an extremely strong hallucinogenic or something? Maybe not, since I couldn't find it... But over time their drawings became less and less refined or legible. I wanted to compare my, I guess, concept of what real "mentally ill" art could be to it. A shame I can't find it though...
