>>5852306so youre basically asking if you should "advanced" symbol draw
that word has a lot of stigma but it can work if you familiarize yourself with a lot of different shapes
its a lot faster and easier than construction so i kind of associate it with a lot of those twitter artists who can just draw a character over and over skipping construction because theyve drawn those symbols many many times
i think there's inherently a ceiling with symbol drawing because say you want to draw the character from slightly to their right while looking down on them, youre gonna need to learn symbols for that. now with their hands forward, more symbols, crouching- different set of symbols. youd even need to adjust them for the slightest angle change. this is why a lot of those artists' work end up looking samey or fall apart when they try to draw a character from a different angle, because they cant use their usual shapes theyre basically lost in uncharted territory
some artists are fine doing this but learning how to construct a body in 3d is much more rewarding in my opinion. you could even do both, i dont think its worth it to limit yourself just cause it's easier and more comfort zone-y to learn a bunch of 2d shapes
it also just comes down to what you want to draw. if you want to draw animation-like stuff then yeah do it, though if you want to be an illustrator then construction will be a very very helpful tool
