My portrait studies feel aimless. Like I'm just drawing a flat shape and pinning on the features.
How do I get out of this mindset?

im doing a 30 min zbrush sculpture a day, really helping me understand the form even after 10+ years of figure drawing. 3d is underrated by modern artists
i agree with drawing skulls, also try drawing the planes of the head by Asaro.
