>>5850331Manga is the closest to full blown variety if you stay away from low-brown stuff isekai and moeshit desu. Comics are the same outside of American capeshit, but I also think most image comics series just look like Tumblr incarnate in concept/visually and so I mostly prefer italian and french stuff (DC Vertigo's stuff was generally great tho, same for british 2000AD series). I don't watch anime in general when I can read the source material directly desu, except for shows that are anime original.
Western animation is the worst out of those, considering they still can't even do camera angles, non hyper-deformed/grotesque appealing art styles or serialized storytelling right. And even for the exceptions, I just don't like them as much as my favorite anime. I watched ATLA due to the hype, and it was fairly average overall. It didnt do anything great, it was just a very decent shonen type show with a few highs. Compared to the dumpster fire that is television animation in the west, of course it was pretty good, but I can't understand why normies obsess over this show like it's the second coming of Christ.
