Doing something every day for 10 years doesn't mean jack when you do it wrong and exactly the same way every time. Consistently pushing your boundaries over those 10 years will yield much better results.
Imagine two kids who walk home down a long path every day after school. The left kid drops one seed into the dirt on his side of the path, the right kid drops one seed on the path itself. Over time, the left kid's side has an entire fucking forrest, while the right kid's side is a barren desert. Then the right kid has a hissy fit about how they both put in the same effort over the same length of time and the left kid is just blessed with natural talent.
