Then you have to consider that the 10% sucks at teaching. Not that they dont understand the basics and how to present them. But that they dont remember or have a logical path forward for learning.
Loomis is the best example of this. All of his books have great information in them. But it is so incoherent and disorganized, that one can not possibley grow by reading his books back to front. There be rare outliers , but objectively his books are a waste of time as a resource for beginners.
Then you have your artist peddling pseudoscience, and conducting no studies to prove their techniques work as a learning tool.(Keys, right side of the brain etc..)
There exist no pseudoscientific approach for learning in the other professions. There exist no concept of "mind's eye" or "Blind contour drawing" or "feeling the form". I would also add "drawing from life" here as well.
The point being the art world suffers from the fact that there is no real way to learn or grow an individual by way of the fundamentals
objecively. As a result you will always get inconsistent results. Our soceity does not run on incosistent results. Hence art degrees are worthless, and the path to becoming an artist will always be a massive uphill battle.Where the present artist struggle to iterate and build on the past masters to create learnignstructures.Much like a mathematicians do today.
Peter Han and a few others. The guy who made rapid visualization book series. Are the only Experts/ masters .Who have attempted to solve this problem properly. The dynamic bible is a great starting point to break this god awful art curse. But still not enough.
Hopefully oneday all of the modern masters get together, like the famous artist cartoon course old masters
did.An attempt to create a concreat e objective , the fundamental of art
book.So Art can stop being seen as a second class citizen amongst the professional world.
"You an artist" lol w "Whats your plan B" - Some random person you know probably.
