>>5823887I'll just make it simple, but it all boils down to stories, in the japanese media you are free, there is a story for everything, and not only numbed down trash not even for toddlers. I just feel bad for the children that grows up now and watch the shit on cartoon network, instead of naruto for example. On the animation side, the western has deformed and ugly shapes as characters, anime has "humans" in it, moreover anime, animates things that have never been animated before, like muh fights, and robots, aliens, monsters, but strange shots too, anime is similiar to a movie in the way that it's filmed, cartoons are on a static plane most of the time, there is absolutely more appeal in it. And as much as disney animation is awesome and fluid, they have never animated something like redline, ghost in the shell, or jujutsu kaisen for example (and they never will now since they trashed 2d for 3d).
And if you look at one of the most successful cartoon of last year, Invincible, the only distinctive thing was an adult oriented story and decent animation and "human" characters, such a novelty for the western animation! But a daily occurance in anime.
Regarding comics I'm not an expert but the main thing (apart from the story) the panneling and perspectives used on them are boring compared to your standard manga
