>a line of bugmenthe mangaka is usually only one, that draws all the storyboard panels, and writes the story, or it can be a duo, when one just draws and the other writes the story. This mangaka, (if it's sucessful and can afford it) has some assistants, from 2 to 6 usually, their job is to fill the blacks, draw the backgrouds, scan pages, clean them etc... basically the grunt work, and rarely they ink the mangaka characters or draw them (there is the editor too that might have a saying in the story like in every writing industry). So 1 artist his own story, his own drawings, his vision and some side help for less important things.
American comics (capeshit specifically)
A writer makes the story of spiderman 20032 edition, but they can be like 3 writers involved on it, an artist draw the sketches, another artist ink it, another artist color it other artists can help with touching up the inking and coloring. Different artists in every stage, confused vision.
A manga is more similiar in production to the western graphic novel.
