If you want to change the world, you go into politics/activism, charity work, activism, journalism (prior to the 21st century and in certain pockets of the world/independent news outlets), science, technology, medicine/health, or education. Artists, no matter whether they're fine artists, filmmakers, actors, political cartoonists, musicians, comedians (yes, political guys like Carlin included), illustrators, game developers, fiction writers, or the like are entertainers. Their work is meaningless in its contribution to the world because it makes none. Art's purpose is to be a refuge to recharge from the struggles of the world after good work, or at its worst, to be used as spiritual opium. Pick a different career path if you want meaningful work.
