>>5814005>How long did it take between you opening commissions and someone commissioning you?I've started anew several times before, once on Deviant art, again on Tumblr, again on FA and Twitter. It's always only ever taken a day or 2 for the most part. It took the longest on DA but that was my first start and I know it wasn't immediate there but I vaguely remember it still not taking insanely long, like less than a month or two? But I had time to wait back then.
>How did you decide on an asking price? This is a good time to mention having a commission price sign. I think that actually helps a lot with getting requests, probably a good idea to make one even if it's simple.
Pricing has always been a nightmare for me though. I've never been sure what I should charge and I change them way too often. I guess my advice would be look at what other artists are charging and price accordingly. But DO NOT charge anything less than $25 USD for fuck's sake. That's the best advice I was ever given, it was from a pro, and it was only once I raised my prices to a min of $25 and up that I ever got my first commission. I doubt you/OP was thinking in that range anyway but I'm going to say it for anyone else thinking about this stuff. If you're scared to charge more than $25 for your art don't sell it til you get better and get more confident. Pulling in the assholes that price range attracts is a waste of time. They nickle and dime you and try to weasel out of paying even at a further discount. Charge serious prices and you pull serious buyers (as long as the art holds up too).
