So I just want to know what his workflow is for this specific video, as it varies for each piece he does.

So far I understand he might be using a multiply layer mode right after he makes the mask and puts in the flats, but Correct me if i'm wrong.

He's just painting on a layer underneath the linework layer. He's probably got the linework layer set to multiply. As he paints he uses the eraser tool for small touch ups. The brushes seem like they're set to a firm edge. The way he paints gives me the impression that he's used to painting with copic markers. These types of artists usually build their values going from light to darker tones.

Ah I see interesting take Anon! I wonder if he's using a multiply blending mode on a new layer on top of the flats/mask layer, or if it's the same layer with the brush set to multiply. Cause you can see when he starts painting the cast shadow by the hair, it's one brush stroke but the hues don't change, the value is preserved

Normal layer. Multiply on top. Lighten on top. Add glow on top. The end. Why are people so retarded? As a 3D engineer, 2D software is a fucking joke to me, and yet I see all of you struggling with such a simple UI.

Lineart (Normal layer)
block in gray layer (normal Layer)
filled in gray layer with desaturated base color
painted in the dark accents of clothing(normal layer)
added in very saturated yet light shadows which will later become the core shadow(MULTIPLY layer)
On the same multiply layer the value is darkened, saturation decreased and hue shift to purple away from warmer tone of normal base color layer (multiply layer) then proceeds to leave in the highly saturated core shadow in a cooler hue(towards purple)
Curve level adjustment on light layer to increase contrast between light and dark of piece while adding saturation to the lighter area.
overpaint on a separate layer to fix lineart on some areas.
realized there was some additional shadow fixes needed on the multiply layer so went back to fix that on the previous layer.

Something I noticed is the image I posted, the final, has some last minute tweaks like the shadow on her cheek has a saturated pink that differs from the vid?

Do you think that was done on a normal layer the fixes?m4yj2

I dont see any different on the face, can you point out exactly what part of the image is different? keep in mind that the video was most likely recorded using OBS and recording programs compress the colorspace for space optimization so its possible that the image just shows higher saturation than the video does during the drawing process.

oh youre talking right before they showed the finished product.
If we look at the final jpg of the drawing, the overall image is more saturated on the light areas and dark areas, BUT the dark areas seem to be even more saturated possibly due to a saturation increase on the multiply layer. Then after, its possible they added the pink highlight on the cheek using an overpaint layer and just colorpicking off her left cheek under the visible eye. The final image is not much different other than blending of certain shadows on the cheek to give a softer appearance.
