If I had to drunkenly bet on a shitty explanation I'd guess it's because girls grow up with way less violence than us to the point where we almost have a monopoly on it, and end up fascinated by it and not really knowing what it's for. That's why we end up with sword lesbians, a weird focus on archery in YA literature, or the biggest gun fags being korean teenage girls.
it's like horses in the 19th century, nobody let their wife ride theirs directly so it became some sort of status of power they just had to get access to.
