You can use csp and download the assets.
You don't need the original to create a account

I also like Krita. I tried CSP and didn't like it as much as Krita. But, I didn't download custom brushes or anything for CSP, which everyone seems to be doing here.

Krita. But the learning curve is a bit difficult if you haven't used any other painting program.
You can use FireAlpaca if you want something easier but still powerful enough to make animu illustrations.
