anime styles do have similar patterns but its not as cut and dry as "do this and it'll look like anime and therefore good"
usually the artists trying to copy anime are much much MUCH less experienced than the artists they try to emulate too.
You can find western artists who have been drawing for a long timee and take inspiration from anime instead of copying it to be much more competent artists who have developed styles like Xa, Bill Otomo, Giannis Milonogiannis, James Stokoe, Babs Tarr, Bilquis Evely, the list goes on
tl;dr - don't copy anime, get inspired by anime
