The fundies are the same whether it's digital or traditional, so whatever you start with, you still have to learn them.
The only difference is the tools and you have to learn to handles them once you choose your way of drawing. In digital there are differences between CSP, PS, SAI and in traditional art there are pencils, inking, watercolor, oil painting... If you have no use for a tool, even just have fun with it then don't bother, no need to learn water color when you paint oil for the rest of your life.
