>>5790174This saying is so wrong. Genes have nothing to do with it.
The difference is when westerners learn to write, they rewire their brain from considering a pencil/whatever as an art tool to a writing tool (put a pencil in any child's hand and he will use it as an art tool). They learn to focus all their vision on the end of the pencil and to use it with their fingers to repeat the same little letters over and over again.
Then their brain automatically goes into writing mode when holding a pencil, and of course if your brain is concentrated only around the little area the tip of the fingers can reach then the feeling of forms and composition is almost non existent. They don't concentrate on the canvas, only 1% of it. If you've been in art school you know than most begginners struggle because they can't grasp the whole picture and concentrate too much on the details instead of the whole picture.
Asians also repeat the letters over and over again but there is a drastic difference in the sense that they always see writing as an art form. In the west writing and drawing are considered as a separate thing.
As a result asians more often than not have globally a better vision when it comes to putting together an appealing image, because their brain haven't been rewired the same way westerners have.
