In a thread I made a while back on /ic/ most seemed to suggest that it's preferable to start out with perspective, THEN anatomy.
Which guide/book did you personally use? Is it true that drawing boxes will help me learn perspective drawing, or is it a waste of time?

It's preferable to just draw
If you wanna practice perspective, then do it
If you wanna practice anatomy, then do it
If you wanna practice coloring, then do it
It doesn't matter how long it takes so long as you enjoy the process

starting with perspective will make you hate drawing. Draw the study you're interested in for at least 6 months THEN go in basic perspective. you gotta remember that when kids start out drawing they just draw, not reading books.

I'd still set a structure for my objectives, if you're all over the place and spend years without achieving much you'll get frustrated about your progress. Just get a couple of books and courses and decide what you'll focus on based on what you're currently doing, then use a couple of hours of your week for practicing/reading/consuming educative material, you can spend time doing your own projects too so you don't wander around aimessly and you actually get to see the acquired knowledge applied into practice while being fun enough to keep you engaged.

Just rationally, if you know anatomy but not perspective you will struggle to place the parts in space even if you know all the parts great. On the other hand some people think perspective and fucking boeing so they just muscle through. Either way, youll probably only get better if you're having fun. Try to do hard shit (makes you learn) that isnt boring (you don't give up)

Generally yes but it's not like you have to be a perspective master before going into figure drawing, you just need a solid understanding

then you can practice both
