No more like if second life had 100% analytics on you and used it to target you with ads 24/7 but instead of the usual hit or miss you get, especially with certain blockers or browsers, it'll be on the nose. Also want to forget you live in a shithole? Just spend a fraction of what it costs irl to have your space look decent so long as you keep the goggles on. Just be sure not to upset the company™ or you lose everything and suddenly have to face reality again.

Do you guys actually think the metaverse will be successful and popular? It seems to me like the single most fake, propped up entirely by corporate marketing thing imaginable. I also just can't imagine normies buying VR headsets by the millions. It's just so niche and nerdy and the only demographic of people who are still on facebook are old people.

The Metaverse starts with AR, not VR. VR won't be the most popular means of accessing it for another decade or two. Augmented Reality however has already had major successes and mass-appeal going back to 2016 with Pokemon Go. And I don't think Facebook/Meta will have a large role to play with it all in the future with how bad their PR is.

I don't see how 3d could replace us in the Metaverse. There will always be an appeal to 2d artwork, always a need for design, and always a need for quick conceptual work to be done. There may even be more opportunity for us in the Metaverse, though only time will tell.

How exactly is sharing media in a VR/AR chatroom more convenient than using a regular ass browser and a monitor? If it's basically sci-fi movie level holograms I could see it being a super cool way to view 3d assets but I doubt it would be that seamless and affordable. None of the examples shown in their videos make much sense. If I work remote with a beautiful view of the countryside outside my window I'm not going to enable AR so I can simulate a stressful open office enviroment with shitty graphics. If someone would go to the park to play chess having a virtual opponent would defeat the purpose of leaving the house. Und so weiter..This stuff is obviously just a front for developing more intrusive technology and new ways to monetize every step you take.

Once virtual reality really kicks off with the normies and it's useful outside of erp with the homies it'll completely change the world similar to the the internet, but right now it's in the weird "dial up" phase and it's sort of just a gimmick. 3D modelers are absolutely going to be in huge demand (I really should learn 3D modeling), but I think artists will still have thier uses.

They'll have a list of authorized asset dealers who give them a 30% cut though, maybe it'll be worth it to be among the first on their marketplace.

The productivity savings of 3d comes from being able to reuse old assets more effectively rather than doing things from scratch like in 2d.

3D fag here. Lol no. I got baited into learning Blender because I legitimately thought it would be easier. And surprise surprise, its actually harder, more time consuming and more disappointing in the end (everything looks uncanny)
