I got the idea for this thread because I had a question: I’ve noticed in recent years an increase in anime girl art where they have excessive pubic and armpit hair, and often have excess fat. I wonder where this trend came from, and what the appeal is. Is it a desire for women to be more masculine? Is it reflective of society moving away from or even stigmatizing traditional femininity? Or is it a condemnation of standards of beauty (ie women are expected to shave their armpit hair and be skinny, this art challenges that)? Pic related is what made me wonder this.
