Art isn't so bad if you intend to do it as an actual job, plenty of jobs hire artists and you could be having a much worse career. Just don't expect it to be glorious or anything. Shit like hollywood and ad companies hire artists constantly for things like advertisement and special effects.
Slot machines commission people constantly and I know a few people who make nice money just drawing for things like that.
Concept art as well etc etc.
People always meme it being a dead field but there's plenty of jobs if you look for them.
School is worthwhile because
>gives you the piece of paper>trains you with professional teachers who typically know what they're talking about>forces you to draw for hours a day even if you don't want to>forces you to study things you don't want to (for you own good)>get to be surrounded by peers who can help you and keep you motivated>gives you connections and internshipsif you can afford it do it. if you can't then just do a stem job.
