pick from stuff they already like like vidya or cartoons. They're half as expensive too because the more artsy ones are collector's items and not consoomer products. Bookstores often don't stock them because the art section caters to hipsters but there are shitloads on Amazon. Kids don't care who Alfons Mucha was but they'll read a Monster Hunter artbook.
for tutorial ones I'd say Hampton, How to Render, and one of those meme ones that teach you anime or cartoon characters. Kids don't have our patience nor our many mental issues, they'll need a win every now and then drawing easy things to stay motivated.

cheap ones. Get a single good one so they'll be able to draw one thing for their parents.

box of 6 pencils, don't nead the full set, some ink tools, proper erasers. They probably have crayons already anyway.
What I listed should be about 250, maybe throw a copy of Smash Bros in there too so they won't think you're weird.
