>>5783688Perspective is a fundamental to pictorial art which is what we can agree we are concerned with. The way that it is taught often includes things that are superfluous, such as camera lens disortion.
"Rendering" is a broad category of different techniques to show form which is what people call modelling now although it has a heavier connotation of blending. Besides it is dependant on the material, which someone else might not use. The problem is not so much about learning these, but that the way they are taught. There is no avoiding that in order to demonstrate it, a process peculiar to the demonstrator and their idea of how that material is used, towards their idea of what is a proper basic foundation, has to be taught. So ot only "fundamentals" are taught but also style.
Industry hacks act as if they have a monopoly on what each of these fundamentals consist and they are to be learned from approved sources. What they do not realize is how limited their own scope into art is because they are in a clique where most are in agreement.
