All the old Japanese manga artists were trying emulate American comics and American movies anyway.
At best you're drawings now doesn't appeal to the typical anime fans today, but they kind of look closer to old Japanese manga works before Moe overtaken all art style.
Here's a page from city hunter volume 6 from 1986, this artist seems like he's still drawing from reference of American comics but obviously drawing the Japanese iconography of the time (funny faces and such)
