“Hold your drawing to a mirror” is common advice given to beginners at art, as it allows you to see your drawing fresh and pick out mistakes. When I switched to digital, I realized how much easier and more convenient it is to do this as you can flip your canvas with the mere click of a button. I got in the habit of doing this quite frequently, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s becoming a crutch. I’d like to believe I’m training my eyes to spot mistakes regardless of if my canvas is flipped or not, but I’m not sure if I’m really just training myself to get lax with errors I know I can easily fix later. What are your thoughts?
