Do fans of western comics/cartoons really hate anime/manga and anime/manga styled stuff?

Maybe I’ve been on this shithole of a board for too long but I always felt that a lot of /co/ refugees here seem hate literally any anime unless it is some generic semi-realistic shit or directly influenced by western media(Akira and Ghost in the Shell to name the most normie examples possible). As a fan of the comics medium in general, be it japanese, european or sometimes american, I feel kinda alienated as I find the modern bland Marvel/DC house style and the "supes from 60 years ago still going on" subject matter itself to not be my cup of tea, and I lean towards more Franco-Belgian or well designed/stylized manga art half of the time, along with more unique art styles. That and well, unless done well, the generic realism of burger comics is hit or miss with me. Stuff like Hellboy and Usagi Yojimbo look more appealing to me personally.

Sorry for creating East Vs.West thread #464645645, but this thought occurred to me while scrolling through a thread in another board and seeing someone legitimately thinking that all cartoons made in japan are Highschool battle harem romcoms or pedoshit while defending Steven Universe out of all things. That and well, I’m concerned no one might like the style I wanna develop as I wanna mainly drawn 90s manga styled characters in a Moebius/Eurocomic style scenery and also take influences from western sci-fi and fantasy novels for my works.

Tl;dr: Do fans of western media in general hate weebshit?
