>>5779531More dumb arguments, what a shocker. You get points for still trying though.
>rj gets the crown for renderingIf we gave Repin an infinite canvas, perfect undo, no need for paint mixing, and then he was worse than RJ, then you could say that. It's two entirely different mediums; one has all the advantages that modern technology can afford, the other requires a massive grind of anatomy, for starters.
>you think people care if ilya repin had to mix colors or didnt have liquify. it factors in a little but does not overtake the actual painting itself, its kind of a ridiculous thing to say that it does. Are you dense? For one, how could this not be extended to something like AI? "Yeah well, Ruan Jia didn't have AI like this 3rd grader did, sucks to be him but that 3rd grader is a better renderer. People don't care he had to have massive skill to do these" (I don't think AI will ever do this, and it's obviously not an equivalent comparison, but the argument stands)
There are clear advantages to digital, that allow one to take immense shortcuts, which Ruan has done, such as skipping the entire mastering drawing/anatomy phase. Is the photograph's rendering "better" than the painter's? Yes, sure, but there's some nuance you're missing.
>not comparing drawings though and it doesnt matter anyway, youre desperately bringing in random criteriaLet me make myself VERY clear and repeat myself, so that even a 3rd grader could get it. There is NO reason to presume that Repin couldn't do what Ruan does if he had the technology. There is all the reason in the world to presume that Ruan can't do what Repin did
>>5777938 WITHOUT the boost the technology gives him. Is that clear? Is that still "random" to you?
>repin is a more complete artist but rj is more technically skilledAnatomy has been regarded as one of the hardest skills to learn, perhaps the hardest. For having a grasp on that, on top of his expressions, composition etc, Repin is more technically skilled.
