As a person of a specific group I don't want to see 3-4 tweets/retweets of some moron disparaging {group I belong to} in between each art post they make.
They damned their work by associating their politics with their work. It's unprofessional behaviour and they have only themselves to blame and not "cancel culture" or whatever stupid boogeyman of the week.
There are so many good artists online these days that pruning a few i disagree with from my life is of not much detriment at all.

I don't understand this argument at all. The reason I would financially support an artist is to incentivice them to make more art or content, not that I want to be their buddy. Their opinions about unrelated topics don't even enter into the equation. Also, if you have niche enough tastes you don't have the luxury of picking and choosing artists whom you align with politically.
