I've literally never heard anyone say too clean as an insult.
Also you can still feather lines when appropriate such as the ends of the hair or fur.
Also not everything is a single straight line, lots of things are broken up by curves and depth.

It still looks really plain.
Something working in an animation where they have to hand draw thousands of drawings doesn't mean its a good style/technique to do in illustration. Same issue with lots of anime artists, you shouldn't be striving to copy literal anime, you should be striving to copy illustrators.

Pic related imo is a good example although not top shelf or anything. The lines have much more variety and weight to them depending on where they are, you can see the folds even without having to render color in, etc.

-Schizofrenic lineart
-Mormon porn lineart completion
-Colouring book clean lineart

Maybe your lineart completion isnt that bad and your clean lineart could actually be good if idk you used line weight rather than a thick constant line or something.

I think this is actually a bad example of bad lineart. The pen pressure seems random and not a conscious decision.
For example the shoulder, far arm and hat all draw attention with the THICC lines but there's no reason for them to be focal points.
The hair is all one thickness even though it has many layers and would benefit from thick = closer and thin = fuirther away to give the very flat hair some depth.

I agree it is better than the coloring book example where everything is the same dead lineweight.

I wouldn't say it's good but something about it I like. While not consistent the general trends are there so it looks more like a rush job rather than the artist not knowing.
You see consistently larger lines on important areas whole the inner details are consistently trimmer and so on, the random weights give it a little bit of life as well even if it's not fundamentally perfect.

I'd of posted a better lineart but I didn't feel like searching through my folders. There used to be a touhou artist on pixiv I loved who did amazing lineart, but I deleted that harddrive awhile back
