>>5767498Anon with all due respect your values and form suck lmao, you gave accurate tips, but it seems you need to practice them more.
>>5768567>>5768274>>5769305i tried my best, i didnt go b&w first tho, i went full color buuut i began blocking the face's light and shadow forms with just 2 colors (its easier with less values), for this step squinting helps a lot. From there i just started adding local color details, reflected shadows, occlusion blabla. But fuck, getting the likeness is hard af.
>>5770502at first i tought you had too much blue in the sky and it looked muddy because of that, but now i think you are just missing good references. A better composition could help. Picrel is the paintover i made using your pic and sea storm references.

>>5791081anon your values are all over the place, i did a simple edit of your pic with better general values to make your characters pop. I made the background lighter in order to get the characters to be the darkest values in the pic, if you choose to do this, be sure to add some nice chiaroscuro to the characters silhouette so that they pop even more. Im guessing you are trying to make some kind of splash art, i attached some references to help you understand what i just explained.
Basically, if you were to make a 3 value thumbnail of your painting (you should btw, they help a lot) the darkest one should be your character, but give them some light value forms too (chiaroscuro). I also made the chains the brightest value to add some contrast to the pic, you could make them fiery chains or ghost chains or whatever, this will help you guide the eye along the picture. Example is in next post.
