Been using a Surface Pro 4 for digital art. It's recently died. I have a great PC set up. Should I just buy a graphic pen monitor and hook it up to my PC or should I get another Surface?

Watch this, maybe it'll give you perspective if in wether you really need a pen display tablet. I'm curious though about the screens/surface, if they get damaged/scratched, there should be a replacement for it, instead of having to buy another entire tablet, they're not really cheap.

Surface are about as bad as it gets.
If you don't really need mobility get a 16" or bigger tablet for your PC, if you do need mobility choose betweeen iPad pro and Samsung S7+

I'm on a samsung myself and while I find the screen space to be rather tight the experience of working with it i smoother, snappier and more refined than what i was getting on PC.

Same CSP is a piece of obsolete singlethreaded shit on PC but for the mobile they had to multithread and optimise it. And drawing with a perfectly accurate pen on a gorgeous screen over super thin glass just feels amazing.

CSP on mobile is great if you can get used to the smaller size and learn to finish in CSP without taking it to PS.

Good but I also needed it as an actual laptop at the time so was using it for other stuff. I used a Wacom Intuos before it so it was my first time drawing on a screen and that felt amazing. However after about a year of use the screen began lagging and getting ghost touches and all sorts of shit. It's basically completely fell apart after only 3 years of use. However for the price you're getting a whole computer not just a tablet. It's a great computer, not sure if its a great as primarily an art tablet and I haven't check if the build quality in newer models is higher

I seriously hate the subscription model on mobile though. I paid like $30 for CSP many many years ago and have no intention of paying $15 a month for it on top of that again

As an artist whose been drawing since CS3 I highly recommend you stop buying this brand and go Wacom. It's expensive I know but just save up it is worth the durability and quality. You can even buy one used or refurb. Good luck friend!
