>>5758812"Classical painters" that likely attended Ateliers, taught by master artists directly, learning figures, perspective, construction, gesture and anatomy.
The sad reality is you'll encounter artists of the mouth, that talk about creating art rather than actually creating it. "Classical painters" didn't have access to the internet, while it does provide more opportunities for distance learning it also opens the flood gates to people that should not be teaching in any capacity and dilute the quality instruction that is available; that is likely behind a paywall of some kind further promoting the often shit quality content that is free.
Beginner artists nowadays have access to all of this information, and unlike "classical painters" have to some how wade through the shit of "art courses" to find one that is good, while not knowing whether it's good advice or not.
Then you'll get people saying you should do it like KJG, despite the fact that he's an exception to the majority of artists and should not be used as any sort of reference. Particularly since his history is pretty much unknown except what comes from his own mouth, which could be absolutely bullshit. What is true, without a doubt is that he's put it in the time, decades of it. That's all that is important.
While "just draw" is fucking annoying to read, it's true. Just fucking finish a book/course to it's completion and not fucking hop from one to another. Apply what you learn to your own drawings and THEN move on once you've got it down.
And no, "just draw"ing lines and ellipses from drawabox will not get you anywhere, blindly doing chicken scratchy gestures will not get you anywhere. Use your fucking brain.
