If they wanted to promote other peoples art, they would just retweet it or link it directly. "Reposts" don't help artists at all. Especially since they almost never credit the original artist.

If you see some guy plastering your work on a mug, or shirt for sale without your permission, would you be fine with it? It's on the same extent with social media, oftentimes the term "repost" means someone who uploads your work without crediting you.

In a way, they're purposely ommitting your name because they don't give a shit about your effort and only want to use your art for their personal gain. Would you be fine with letting those people be?

Like 90% of the artists I follow I had to hunt down because I found their work on unrelated sites and they didn't sign or did but in some sort of graphic swooshy unsearchable symbol. Anyone who wasn't going to follow you or commission you or buy your prints won't do it if they e.g. save the image on Pinterest because some reposted it, but those who do care won't be reached at all if your work is entirely confined to your gallery. It's like game piracy, if pirates couldn't pirate they wouldn't buy the games at all.

Holy shit this is so fucking annoying. Why are artists such absolute retards? I shouldn't have to turn into a fucking pinterest-dodging detective with multiple reverse image searches and going through someone else's twitter retweet just to find your fucking name.

Always sign your work and ask like 3 people if they can read your signature. make it clearer if they cant. Don't sign at the bottom pixel of the art, sign a bit from the edge so its destructive to the image to crop it out. Use a color that makes it unobtrusive but also legible.
