For instance, if by abstract you mean two overlapping, brightly colored rectangles on a white surface, and you mean that you have natural talent for it, and you're not trolling, then this is tragically comic.
On the other hand, if you mean something like Richard Schmidt's style is appealing, and fresher than the things than have been re-hashed centuries, now this could make more sense.
But often, the real problem IMHO it that people don't know how to appreciate a piece of art. A good painting easily takes hours in the making; the skills to get there years of work, and people build up on centuries of accumulated experience. Yet, modern people look at the Joconde for literally 5sec and call it boring.
Try this as an exercice: take one of those painting you think is boring, and look at it intensely for a whole hour. This will help teach you to see, thus making you a better artist.
