has anyone taken the big leap and moved to another city to go to an atelier and study art? what was it like? was it really worth it? is there any place worth doing something so crass

i've. been grinding videos and books but it seems like i've plateaued and i need actual mentorship to really improve. Few artist i know who are good were self taught. the more i dwell on it, the more this seems like something i need to do and the the art education in my area seem like a joke to me
