I'm one of you guys that started drawing at an advanced age 24+, and I just noticed how wrongly I was approaching things and if you are like me please read this.
I never doodled or made drawings for fun (besides a very few exceptions), drawing is painful for me because I only "grind", I have a stack of papers of pure grind. I thought that the ideas would flow and the motivation to draw would appear after I got a little better, but for example, after studying the loomis heads I never put it in to practice in a personal meaningful way, so I'm wondering why did I learn to draw heads if I don't like drawing people (this has been going for years at this point). Even as a kid I never made characters like other edgy kids and their elementary school tier anime.
I just realized that I don't need fundies if I don't draw for myself. Drawing for others is often disappointing and not fulfilling. You guys love drawing, and I finally see that. When you draw that big tiddie anime goth gf is because you want to draw that, so you can learn fundies to draw your waifu better.
But me I don't care at all about anything other than schizo stuff, so I will try to find myself in the next weeks by only drawing things freely without any constraint.
So if you are a boomer like me, I don't think you will make it if you do things this way. You need to find yourself, express yourself and then come back and see if you want to persue this kind of art.
