>>5747465>Look at fucking dark soul and how much of it is inspired by Miura to the point that it almost looks like straight up plagiarism a lot of timesAnon, I agree with your point but man you could not have argued it worse. First of all, Berserk started in the 80s, continued into the 90s then fell into endless hiatus in the new millennium, second Berserk is just a sendup to Evil Dead but serious instead of silly.
Individuals absolutely CAN be as influential as they were, perhaps even moreso nowadays than ever before. The problem is that you don't know that they're influential until later. Teams of creatives make high quality stuff, but it's never going to be as fucking wild as something an individual is capable of, simply because the craziness of a single person will get diluted by the rest of the team. That's why these are being made by teams, so that one person can't get too crazy, alienating a broader audience. The big issue I see nowdays is simply saturation. There's a LOT of individuals AND teams making stuff, and plenty of it is genuinely creative. But there's no time or space for all of them to be moebius, or geiger. It's not at all impossible for anything to rise to the top, but it's very difficult in a saturated market. The stuff that rises to the top in a saturated market is typically stuff with broad appeal, not the most creative.
