Process was something like (no, I didn't bought the 100€ cushion + specific brush): apply store-bought mixture, wait for it to become "in love" ("amoureuse", that is, slightly sticky, this is the expert's term), use a clean blade to help cut/tear appart the leaf, use a few pieces of paper/clean fingers to help put it in place, use a big soft watercolor brush to make sure that the leaf is properly stuck to the surface. Put two layers of leaves, likely because I mis-handled the first one.
When dry, brush up the thing to clean it from the gold. Collect the gold.
