when they mean "buy X or you're a racist", it's more like "buy X because you can bet most of your friends already did since they assumed most of theirs would too given your values, so now if you don't you'll look dumb".
Companies do this shit all the time, you sprinkle some of any group's values on your product to make half the group buy it and shill it to the other half until owning it is synonymous with belonging.
