I guess maybe? He barely drew for a really long time and only recently kinda started drawing a bit more again(tho still not a lot). I also remember reading some of his tweets that made it sound as if he was going through something tough.

he didn't spent as much time on the updated version in rendering, but I think the morphology of the anatomy, particularly the shoulders, is better constrained, and head looks to be more properly aligned.

i prefer the original faces much more, like 1000x more, but some of the anatomical detail is a lot better on the updated version. that being said it's hard to compare fairly bc i miss the cast shadows on the first
