>>5736703>I have to design like a dozen different characters with turnarounds shotsNo you don't. You can make up most of this shit on the fly, turnarounds are an animation character designer workflow so that OTHER people don't have to make shit up that might conflict with the character. You're the one making the character, you decide what fits, you're the one going to be drawing them, there's no need for a turnaround. Just draw the character a couple times to get a feel for them and move on.
The biggest lesson to learn about making comics is to be efficient and make concessions in the name of getting it done. Yes, there is a ridiculous amount of work to be done, which is why you can't do it all as if each task was your only task. You have to make concessions, take shortcuts, skip steps and generally not put all your effort into any one step.
Here's a protip: Do the whole thing fast and loose and badly, then look at it in whole and see what you can put more effort into to fix. The key to make something good is iteration.
>>5736810They do have excellent work ethic, but it's also that the people who succeed are the ones who draw day and night. Even though they probably enjoy drawing, remember that the difference between a pro and a hobbyist is that the pro sits his ass down and finishes the job even if he hates it while the hobbyist draws when they want to.
