My problems seem to come from having my elbows at roughly the same angle. Ideally, you'd draw with your whole arm and not rely on just a few joints to draw. In practice, I extend my left arm, the elbow pops, and I feel better for a while.

thats really weird anon wtf i saw some chinks grab pen in a weird way (not using thumb) maybe look it up it was pixiv showcase or whatever video where they show artist and their process

for me i still got pain in my lats kek i blame cintiq but now i use vr magic to use the cintiq as screenless tablet

This is gonna seem dumb as fuck, but this is how I hold a pencil
I get darker lines without pressing hard, total stability, and zero pain
All the weight that would be on your thumb goes out to all the other fingers
Done this shit since a young age and I’ve never had wrist pain either
So if you’re super desperate, this grip could be a last resort

My biggest issue is I find the overhand grip incredibly useful on my easel or a bigger sketchbook, but when it comes to something like my intuos it's completely useless. I alao can't really use my shoulder that much because my pinky is in contact with the surface of the tab when I use the tripod grip.

Yes. I was drawing 12 hours a day for weeks with a very tight grip. Don't draw 12 hours every day while clutching your pencil like your life depends on it.

Yeah it does put pressure on it, but if it’s overwhelming when you’re first trying the grip try not pressing as hard on the pencil with your thumb

are you using mouse all day long? if yes get a mouse that you hold sideways (they feel pretty weird) or use small tablet instead of mouse (smaller the better, not for drawing but just for operating computer). that pain is caused by having arm rotated left, try laying arm like your holding mouse but point thumb up to the ceiling, its more relaxed that way, normal mouse grip rotate arm unnaturally

i ordered one of these armrests a few days ago, hoping it'll help somehow without making drawing too awkward.

well i do stretches, i don't draw for more than 5 hours, and i try not to extend my arm forward too much when i'm on my pc (my arm/hand's always near the edge of the table/my torso.) there's still pain some days, but not as much and not as often.
