One can argue that people find lines generally "sexier" then full painting but this doesnt mean anything if the painter is skilled enough to both understand, and apply that concept to their painting. Lines are generally easier then painting because the line means you dont have to think about form, values, overlap too much. You gotta line to do it for you : ^ )
The pic on the left looks better then the one on the right as the guy on the left looks to be more skilled then the guy on the right, not because he painted and the other guy used lines.
